English translation
No. 8. Knoll, Barbara; butcher's widow, Evangelical Lutheran; Marktleuthen house no. 150; widow; cause: senile wasting (marasmus); died on 2 March 1884 at 3 in the morning; buried on the [5th or 6th] of March 1884; aged 79 years 3 months; [clergyman] Heym; born 3 November 1804; blessing [at the grave]; without a birth certificate.
Notes. The birth date equals the baptism of Barbara Legat (212081 Bild 310–311, 1804 no. 25) to the day, and that baptism carries the margin date "2. März 1884". "79 J. 3 Mon." against 79 years 4 months less a day (computed): the clerk's rounding. PROBABLE that she is Barbara née Legat, widow of Johann Georg Knoll (the surname Legat is not in this entry). Her husband died before her (found: 15 June 1870). John E. Knoll, then 57 and in Pennsylvania, is not in this record. House no. 150 against no. 63 (1826, 1833) and no. 27 (Georg, 1870): open. Image to save: Bild 192, no. 8 (both halves).
