Plain reading

On 7 November 1879, Henrietta H. Reilly (widow of Thomas A. Reilly), her son Richard H. Reilly and his wife Bessie K. sold to George Wesemann, grocer, of Philadelphia, a two-story brick house and lot on the southeast side of Tulip Street, 14 feet northeast of Dickinson Street, 31st Ward, 14 feet wide and 56 feet deep (with a 3-foot rear alley), for \$700, subject to a yearly ground rent of \$48 payable to Alexander R. Harvey. The deed was recorded on 11 November 1879 at 2:45. The deed's southwest boundary is "ground of said George Wesemann," so he already owned the next lot to the southwest.

Notes

PROBABLE that this George Wesemann, grocer, is the George of Chapter 4: name, trade (grocer in 1870 and 1880 per Prior Research, census entries) and street fit, the deed says he owned the adjoining lot, and the 1873 and 1880 family address 2321 Tulip Street is in the same block (no age, wife or birthplace is named). Not PROVEN.

Conflicts noted: F63 (Addendum): "deeds recorded under 'November 18' ... Reilly H H to Geo Wesemann 2322 Tulip." The deed itself reads "Recorded November 11th 1879. 2.45" and the grantee index "Nov 11." The Law Record's "18 Nov" is its publication week, not the recording date (the deed is the primary record; the notice is a derivative). The deed's grantor is "Henrietta H. Reilly" with her son, not "H. H. Reilly" alone (so the notice's initials are hers). The deed does not state a street number; "2322" comes from the notice only. F63 (Addendum) says 2322 stands across the street from 2321 so "probably a second property." The deed puts the lot on the southeast side of Tulip Street, with George's own lot on its southwest side. Whether 2321 and the lot are on the same side is not stated in the deed; the lot's side (southeast) cannot be tied to the odd or even numbering from the deed alone. Not resolved.
