Plain reading
Louisa Boentgen, a white widow who kept house, born on 23 May 1840 (birthplace and parents not known to the informant), died aged 81 years 9 months 16 days on 9 March 1922 at 3223 North Randolph Street, Philadelphia, of oedema of the lungs, with dilation of the heart for three months; her doctor had attended her since 8 January 1922. Laura [or Lena] Boentgen of the same address gave the information. She was buried on 13 March 1922 in the German Lutheran Cemetery.
Notes. PROVEN for the death date (it agrees with her pension card, transcript Pension_Payment_Card_Louisa_Boentgen_Widow_Of_Nicholas_1922), the place, her widowhood, the burial and the informant as written; STATED for the birth date (the informant's statement). The age is two days off the arithmetic from 23 May 1840 to 9 March 1922 (81 years 9 months 14 days): a clerk's slip. 1840 agrees with her census ages (20 in 1860, 30 in 1870, 40 in 1880) against the Find a Grave index's 1841. The certificate gives no birthplace or parents: it neither confirms nor contradicts Louise Seeger of Reutlingen of the 1860 marriage index. The informant is not Anna M. The German Lutheran Cemetery is also the burial ground of Nicholas Boentgen (1896), Kate Boentgen (1907) and George Wesemann (1896).
