Translation (English)

[Re-read:] No. 1. The widow Waßmann, Regina née Henrici, widow of the late […] and of Johann Heinrich Waßmann [Wesemann]. Died [February, in the evening]; buried on the twelfth of February, quietly; cause old age and [?]; aged eighty-nine years, [?] months, [?]-and-twenty days.

[Earlier reading:] the widow of Wasmann, Regina[?] née Gnauve[?] … and [last wife of] Johann Heinrich Wasmann. Aged 89 years, 9 months, 15 days; cause old age.

Notes

Regine Sophie Henrici, widow of the Lizenteinnehmer Johann Schiele of Lauenförde, married the widower Johann Heinrich Wesemann, Mühlenmeister of the Linse Mittelmühle, on 8 November 1792 (Halle 390646, Bild 149, entry 11). Forename, maiden name and an age of 89 (born about 1740) agree: this is the miller's widow (probable).

The word before "und Johann Heinrich Waßmann" was read "[?]müllers"; it may name her first husband, the Lizenteinnehmer Schiele.

Chapter 2's "Johann Georg Wesemann married to Regina Agnes Heinrici" rests on the earlier reading and has no basis; "89 years, 9 months, 15 days" is not confirmed by the re-read.

Grade: Probable (the miller's widow); draft reading.

Conventions

[ ] editorial addition or expansion; [?] uncertain reading; [...] or […] illegible or outside the crop; [sic] as written. Spelling, capitals and abbreviations follow the register. Draft reading, not yet checked against the image by a second person unless noted.

Translation (English)

Wasmann's widow, Regina née Henrici, widow of the late Erbenzins mill miller Johann Heinrich Wasmann. Died the 4th [?] February, evening; buried 12 February, quietly; old age and frailty; aged 89 years, [9?] months, 25 days.

Notes

Right page (p. 171), 1830 no. 1. The days are 25, not 15. No "Schiele" stands on the line: the word before "und Johann Heinrich Wasmann" is the husband's title (Erbenzins miller), not a first husband's name. Grade: STATED for the name, burial day and the age in years and days; the death day and the months bracketed.
