Translation (English)

No. 5. Heinrich Wilhelm Georg Brand, legitimate son of the cottager Heinrich Friedrich Christian Brand of Linse and his wife Luise Friederike Waßemann. Died 31 December [1852], 2 p.m.; buried 3 January 1853, towards evening, in der Stille. Cause: thrush (Schwämmchen). Born [7?] November 1852.

Notes

His mother is George's aunt, Dorothea Luise Friederike Wesemann (born 23 February 1817 at Linse, daughter of Georg Ludewig; married Heinrich Friedrich Christian Brand 24 June 1846; mother of Ida Caroline Auguste Brand, 1857). The register uses her second and third forenames, as when she stood godmother in 1836. He was George's first cousin and lived about eight weeks.

A family death not in Chapter 2. His baptism (Linse 390716, November 1852) is not yet on file.

In der Stille: every Wesemann-connected burial at Linse read so far was quiet (1852, this one, 1856, 1858, 1861). An infant's quiet burial is common, which weakens this one as evidence.

Grade: Probable, close to confirmed (father's full name and mother's forenames and surname agree with the 1857 baptism of Ida). Chapter 2.
