Translation (English)
2\. Heinrich Brand, half-farmer; mother Christine Grupe, aged [29]; born 9 October at [10] in the evening; baptized 21 October 1821; child Hanne Louise Wilhelmine; godparents Christian Brand, half-farmer at Linse; Heinrich [Kuhlmann?], merchant[?] at Linse; Heinrich Bode, full farmer at Dielmissen, and his wife Louise née Brand. Note of the Halle pastor, 5 September 1852: "the child entered under no. 2 … entered as a legitimate female [daughter] … Hanne Luise [Wilhelmine] … Heinrich Friedrich Ludewig … by decree of the Ducal Brunswick Consistory at Wolfenbüttel of August 1852, No. 4715, and the certified protocol taken at Halle on 5 September 1852."
Notes
Reading: a correction of the child's sex and name. Heinrich Friedrich Ludewig Brand of the Grupe line married at Linse in December 1851 as "born October 1821" (F262); this is the only October 1821 Brand baptism. Also explains the "Ludewig Brand, Halbmeyers Sohn" godfather of 1838. Grade: STATED (entry); the correction PROBABLE.
Transcription (original language)
Protocoll d. Halle den 5ten September 1852. Halle, Septbr 5, 1852. [H.?] Kullen, Pastor loci.
Translation (English)
The child entered above under No. 2 is not a daughter but a son, and the female baptismal name entered in error, [Hanne] Louise Wilhelmine, [is to be changed] to the male baptismal names Heinrich Friedrich Ludewig [Brand], by order of the Ducal Consistory at Wolfenbüttel of [12?] August 1852, No. 4715, and the protocol taken and corrected accordingly at Halle on 5 September 1852. Halle, 5 September 1852. [H.] Kullen, local pastor.
Notes
Certain: "No. 2 aufgeführte Kind," "nicht eine … sondern ein," "weiblichen," "männlichen Taufnamen," "Louise Wilhelm[ine]," "Heinrich Friedrich Ludewig," "Consistorii," "Wolfenbüttel," "1852 No 4715," "Protocoll d. Halle den 5ten September 1852." Doubtful: the first word, "Tochter," the first given name, the day in August, the word before "Protocoll," the pastor's name. The correction: STATED; that the son is the Grupe-line groom of December 1851: PROBABLE. This reading replaces the fragment in the block above.
