Kirchenbuch 1845–1868 · Revised transcription of the four Brand-surname entries
Finding 3 — Bild 96, printed page 249, entry 1, marriages, 1848
The most productive of the four. The earlier document read the bride’s father as “the late [first name illegible] Brand”; the register names him in full, gives his landholding status and a parish office, and names his wife.

Translation. Groom: Lönig, Heinrich Christian Wilhelm Ludewig, born at Bodenwerder 4 August 1812, bachelor, burgher, master [brewer] and innkeeper at Bodenwerder, legitimate son of the late burgher and innkeeper of Bodenwerder Heinrich Christian Ludewig Lönig and of [Hannchen] Karoline Küster. Bride: Brand, Hanne Luise Christiane, born 4 April 1824, maiden, legitimate daughter of the Großköther and [church] warden at Halle Johann Heinrich Conrad Wilhelm Brand and of Ilse Marie Henriette Christiane [Rupenhorn]. Banns on the 20th and 27th; married 10 March at Halle. The required certificates have been produced.
Changed from the earlier pass. The groom’s second given name is Christian, not Justin, and the surname is spelled Lönig here as elsewhere in this volume. His trade reads Brauermeister und Gastwirth — master brewer and innkeeper — not “Bauermeister”; the pairing with Gastwirth and the father’s identical trade both support the brewer reading. His parents are now named. The bride’s third given name is Christiane, not Friederike. Her father is fully named and is not described as deceased; her mother is named for the first time. The marriage date is the 10th of March, firm, not “on or about the 12th.”
Why this entry matters. A Großköther is a landholding class, not a trade, and a parish office on top of it means this Brand household sat near the top of Halle’s village hierarchy. The entry supplies a named couple — Johann Heinrich Conrad Wilhelm Brand and Ilse Marie Henriette Christiane [Rupenhorn] — with a daughter born 4 April 1824. That is a searchable household: the daughter’s 1824 baptism and the parents’ own marriage should both sit in register 390651, the volume immediately before this one.
