Mutter: Hanne Dorothea Christiane, geborene Schwar[z]lose(?), 28 Jahr 10 Monaten 15 Tage alt. Geburt: Der achten August, Mittags ein Uhr. Taufe: Der zwanzigste August. Kind: (Sohn) Carl Wilhelm Christian. Taufzeuge: Johann Heinrich Christian Schwarze(?), der Leinweber in Hehlen.

English translation: 12. Father: Waßmann (underlined in the original), Wilhelm Johann Friedrich, cottager (Brinksitzer) and linen-weaver at Kemnade. Mother: Hanne Dorothea Christiane, née Schwar[z]lose(?), 28 years 10 months 15 days old. Birth: the eighth of August, one o’clock midday. Baptism: the twentieth of August. Child: (son) Carl Wilhelm Christian. Godparent: Johann Heinrich Christian Schwarze(?), the linen-weaver at Hehlen.

> Note: the mother’s age to the day — 28 years 10 months 15 days on 8 August 1843 — puts her birth on about 24 September 1814. The 1845 entry for the same household gives 24 August 1814 at Hehlen, which is a month off; one of the two figures is in error, and the 1845 entry, which states the date outright rather than computing an age, is the better of them. > > Note on the maiden name: it runs across the column edge, the first part reading Schwar- with the following letter cut, the second part reading lose(?). The sole godparent is a Schwarze(?) linen-weaver at Hehlen and the mother was born at Hehlen, so the godparent is almost certainly her kinsman and the two names are the same name. Not resolved.
