She was struck at the same time as USS Sonoma (ATO-12). Ships went to her aid, but she was already blazing out of control by the time they arrived. This view is from USS LCI(L) 227, from the Frank S. Transcriber’s notes
The printout cuts off text at the top of page 1 (the end of a site notice) and at the foot of page 2 (the copyright line). Visible fragments are transcribed and marked.
The three photographs are described, not reproduced. The page’s thumbnails are too small to read beyond the “1065” on the hull in the first image.
The page gives no print or access date. The partly legible copyright range ending 2026 places the printout in 2026, consistent with the SortedByName printout of 15 July 2026. The filename keeps “Undated” because no date is printed in full.
NavSource cites its history to the Turner Publishing LCI association volume (1995). Treat the ship facts here as DERIVED. The commissioning date (16 May 1944) and loss date (24 October 1944, Leyte Gulf) agree with the muster rolls and reports of changes already in the Squitiere file, which show the crew received 16–17 May 1944 and Anthony B. Squitiere received aboard LST 464 for treatment from LCI 1065 on 26 October 1944.
