Plain reading

In 1910 Caroline Knoll states that she has had six children and that six are living. Eight children of Charles and Caroline are otherwise recorded (Mary Matilda 1884, Lydia Pauline 1886, Benjamin Charles 1887, Frank Benjamin 1889, Caroline 1891, Walter 1893, Frederick Charles 1895, Wilhelmina 1896 or 1898). Five are at home. Two married daughters (Mary, Lydia) are away. The "six living" count therefore fits the children who survived to 1910 only if Benjamin Charles died and Walter is counted among the living (or the count is wrong). The son on line 84 is written "Walter", not "Willy", and his work is raveler in a cotton mill, not hauler. The sheet gives no birth months (the 1910 form asks age only). 1900 is not found, so the birth months in the 1900 column were not read.

Notes

The count is itself a statement by the household (STATED), not a count of births. Minnie's age 12 on 15 April 1910 fits the Find A Grave birth date 12 April 1898 (12 years and 3 days) and does not fit 2 April 1896 (14 years): PROBABLE for 1898 if the age is accurate.

The name and trade differ; the age agrees. Possible readings: the death date is wrong; the enumeration took place in the following weeks and listed the dead son; or the 1910 Walter is a living son and the 4 April 1910 certificate belongs to someone else. Not decided. "6 children born, 6 living" against eight known children; "26 years" married against the 24 October 1882 marriage (27 years and 6 months in April 1910). Frank's age 21 in April 1910 against his birth on 29 August 1889 (20 years 7 months); Fred's age 15 against 3 December 1895 (14 years 4 months); Caroline's 54 against 23 February 1857 (53). Minor, as is usual on 1910 returns.
