[Cover label:] Kirchenbuch Dielmissen. Getaufte 1743–1782. Getraute 1748–1787. Begrabene 1743–1788. [Confirmirte 1744–1794, read at lower zoom.]

[Vorbericht:] Vorbericht. Ernst Conrad Gutke, Pastor.

Translation (English)

[Cover label:] Church book of Dielmissen. Baptized 1743–1782. Married 1748–1787. Buried 1743–1788. [Confirmed 1744–1794.]

[Vorbericht, sense:] When I was introduced as pastor here [and at Hunzen?] on the 14th Sunday after Trinity 1743 (15 September 1743), I was handed an unbound octavo church book begun by my late predecessor in 1711, since no older one existed, in which the marriages, births and deaths since then were recorded, and I continued it. On 25 January 1749 a ducal consistory rescript asked whether such books were everywhere in good order. I reported the poor state of this one, and in 1750 I received the consistory's special order to have a new, durable church book bound, the cost to be paid from church funds. I therefore had this book made for the Dielmissen church, entered in it the marriages, births and deaths I had performed since my introduction, and added the catalogue of the confirmed; I will continue it as long as God grants me life. Written at Dielmissen, 31 October 1753. Ernst Conrad Gutke, pastor.

[Note:] Pages 1 to 4 are missing. M., 14 March 1934.

Notes

The label corrects the earlier reading of Bild 3 [now cited as Bild 4, viewer value 3] in F307 and the block Register_Page_Dielmissen_Title_Pages_1743_Archion_390592_Bild_1-4 (marriages from 1748, not 1743; burials to 1788, not 1799). A first Dielmissen register was begun in 1711 (STATED); it is not in the 1976 film list or on Archion. The entries of 1743 to about 1750 in this volume are the pastor's fair copy (PROBABLE). The four missing pages were probably the first marriage pages (the first marriage page is printed p. 5), so the marriages of autumn 1743 to March 1748 are not online (PROBABLE). The pastor's surname reads Gutke in the signature, Guthe[n] on the title page: one man (the signature the better source). Anne Catharina Voigts's baptism (about 1740–1742) and her parents' marriage lie before 1743, in the 1711 book if recorded at Dielmissen. Grade: STATED (the words read; wording approximate).
