Notes

> The Wasmann–Bönig alliance is formalised. Twenty-six years of cross-sponsorship at Dohnsen, a clerk’s statement of kinship in 1718, and a marriage in 1734. > > Neither party’s parents are named. This clerk’s marriage entries are two lines long and carry nothing but names, place and date. That is bad news for the parentage question: if Johann Heinrich Wesemann’s own marriage were entered in this style, it would not name his father either. > > The Hundertmark marriage on the same leaf is not a Wasmann entry but is transcribed here deliberately. Ilse Margrete Hundertmark, who died at Linse in June 1800 aged seventy-seven, was the wife of the Leibzüchter Johann Heinrich Waßmann of Linse — the second man of that name whom Chapter 1 separates from the miller. The Hundertmarks are in this parish and in this register.
