Translation (English)

No. 3, 1871. Groom: Carl Ludwig Adolph Vorwohle[?] (born 7 February 1845 at Kirchbrak), unmarried, labourer at Kemnade, legitimate son of the late Anbauer[?] Johann Friedrich Christoph Ludwig Vorwohle[?] and his late wife Johanne Christine Leonore[?] née Krüger. Bride: Louise Christiane Wilhelmine Caroline Waßmann (born 15 August 1845 at Kemnade), unmarried, of Kemnade, legitimate daughter of the linen weaver Wilhelm Johann Friedrich Waßmann and his late wife Johanne Caroline Christiane née Schwarzlose[?]. Banns [30?] July and 6 August at Kemnade; married 6 August [1871] at Kemnade. The required certificates were produced.

Notes

The capital is not this clerk's D (compare the D of Dröge, Bild 13, and of "Die" in the remarks column); it is a V. The letters after "Vor" are a w (two strokes closing in a small loop, which was read as "nd" or "n" + "d"), o, an h whose lower loop runs through the underline (read as a long f), a looped l, and e: Vorwohle, the name of a village near Eschershausen. The same word is written in the father's line. Grade: probable, not confirmed; a person should compare the capital with this clerk's V elsewhere.

This fits the earlier note on the 1874 baptism of the couple's daughter (Bild 24, entry 7): "the surname's capital is not this clerk's D and the ending reads -ofte." The earlier draft there had "Vorwerk." The year is 1871 (page header), not 1869–1875, and the bride was born 15 August, not November, 1845.

The bride's parents are the same as those of the 1869 groom Carl Wilhelm Christian Waßmann (Bild 33, no. 2): brother and sister. Her own baptism: Kemnade 390699, Bild 13, no. 18 (born 15 August 1845; mother Hanne Caroline Christiane née Schwar[z]lose, born at Hehlen 24 August 1814). Her mother was dead by 1871.

Readings to check: the father's styling (Anbauer?), the mother's third forename, the banns day.

Grade: Stated. Groom's surname Vorwohle: probable. Cleared for Chapter 2; Appendix C.
