German

17\) Linse d. 24ten Junius starb Johann Heinrich Waßmanns Ehefrau, Ilse Margrete Hundertmark, gebürtig aus Scharfoldendorff, an Schwäche des Alters, in einem Alter von 77 Jahren und 9 Monaten.

English

17\) Linse, the 24th of June, died the wife of Johann Heinrich Waßmann, Ilse Margrete Hundertmark, born at Scharfoldendorf, of the weakness of old age, at an age of 77 years and 9 months.

Notes

> The husband here is not the miller. He is Johann Heinrich Waßmann, Leibzüchter at Linse, born about 1729 and buried 29 November 1805 (Bild 172, entry 18 of this register). The miller Johann Heinrich Wesemann, Müllermeister and Mühlenmeister at Linse, died 22 December 1801 aged 65, born about 1736 (Bild 160, entry 35). The ages resolve the two cleanly, and an earlier pass on this entry that merged them has been withdrawn. > > Ilse Margrete Hundertmark was the Leibzüchter's second wife. His first was Marie Sophie Marahrens, widow of the Halbmeyer Heinrich Harm Sagebiel, married at Linse 10 May 1759 (Trauungen 1736-1799, Bild 27). > > Her age of 77 years 9 months puts her birth at about September 1722. Scharfoldendorf is her birth village and is a Hundertmark location; the surname recurs in the 1707–1740 Halle register. > > The surname is written Waßmann here, with the long-s and ß, not Wesemann. The spelling tracks the household, consistent with Chapter 1's separation of the two men.
