Transcript and translation

Uncertain readings are marked [?] or set in brackets; words that could not be read are marked as such. Each transcript is shown as written, with its transcriber’s notes.

The record

Landeskirchliches Archiv der Evang.-luth. Landeskirche Hannovers, Kirchenkreis Bodenwerder, Halle, Kirchenbuch “Taufen Beerdigungen 1800-1814,” Bild 167 (archion.de).

Confirmed negative for the surname, but not an empty page. No entry names Wesemann, Wasmann or a variant. The page carries the earliest dated sighting of the second Linse mill found anywhere in this register, which is why it was pulled.

Notes

  • Entry 36 dates a Brünig miller at Linse to September 1803. That is five years earlier than the previously earliest Brünig-at-Linse sighting, and it matters because Halbrodt does not appear anywhere in this register. In this period the two milling households at Linse are Wesemann and Brünig. Halbrodt arrives later. Any statement in the chapter that pairs Wesemann with Halbrodt as the two mills should carry a date, because before roughly 1817 the pairing is Wesemann and Brünig.
  • Entry 35 gives a full name, age and death date for a Sporleder at Linse, one of the tracked households. Entry 30 is a plainly recorded illegitimate birth with the father named outright, which is the register’s ordinary form and bears on how this parish handled illegitimacy.
  • Reading confidence. Names, villages, dates and ages are read with confidence throughout; this leaf is unusually clean. The causes of death in entries 35 and 36 are read at working confidence and are marked [?].
