German transcription: 7. Vater: Heinrich Christian Ludewig Wesemann, Mühlenpächter zu Thran. Mutter: Hanne Caroline Wilhelmine, geborene Brand, sechs und zwanzig Jahre alt. Geburt: Der vierte Februar, Abends um acht Uhr. Taufe: Der fünf und zwanzigste Februar. Kind: (Sohn) Wilhelm Christian Ludewig. Taufzeugen: 1) Der Mühlenmeister Ludewig Wesemann zu Linse; 2) Wilhelm Wewerke(?), Gastwirth zu Buchhagen; 3) Christian Brand, Ackermann zu Linse.
English translation: 7. Father: Heinrich Christian Ludewig Wesemann (underlined in the original), mill tenant (Mühlenpächter) at Thran. Mother: Hanne Caroline Wilhelmine, née Brand, twenty-six years old. Birth: the fourth of February, eight o’clock in the evening. Baptism: the twenty-fifth of February. Child: (son) Wilhelm Christian Ludewig. Godparents: 1) the mill-master (Mühlenmeister) Ludewig Wesemann of Linse; 2) Wilhelm Wewerke(?), innkeeper at Buchhagen; 3) Christian Brand, farmer (Ackermann) at Linse.
> The most informative of the five. Godparent 1 is legible without qualification: Der Mühlenmeister Ludewig Wesemann zu Linse. That is Georg Ludewig Wesemann, the child’s paternal grandfather, whose 1855 death entry gives the same title and place — früher Mühlenmeister auf der Mittelmühle zu Linse. He stands sponsor to his grandson at Kemnade. Godparent 3, Christian Brand, Ackermann zu Linse, is a Brand of the mother’s Linse household. > > Note on the father’s residence: the entry reads Mühlenpächter zu Thran, matching the 1832 marriage entry at Halle and the 1833 baptism above. The same word appears in the 1838 baptism of Georg Wilhelm Ehrenfried. Written out at this size the word is a capital, two short letters, a tall letter carrying a descender, and a final letter — the clerk’s hand is loose here and the reading is carried from the surrounding documentation rather than from the letterforms alone. The godparents’ zu Linse in this same entry is written differently and is unambiguous, so the two places are certainly distinct. > > Note on the child: Wilhelm Christian Ludewig has no further record in this project.
Kirchenbuch 1815–1843 — Bild 89 (Kemnade, Taufregister, 1836)
Only the entry involving the Wesemann/Wasmann surname is included below. Uncertain readings are marked (?). The register is ruled in columns: entry number | father | mother | birth | baptism | child and sex | godparents. The family surname is written once, underlined, at the head of the father's column, and is not repeated in the child's column.
