The record
Kirchenbuch 1845–1868 · Revised transcription of the four Brand-surname entries
Finding 1 — Bild 30, entries 15 and 16, births, 1851
Illegitimate twins baptized on the same day. The two entries repeat the mother’s description verbatim, which is useful: anything hard to read in one can be checked against the other, and that is how the eheliche reading was settled.
Entry 16
390652_Page30-Entry16a — full entry row
390652_Page30-Entry16b — mother’s column, the clearer of the two copies
390652_Page30-Entry16c — baptismal name and witnesses
| Mother | Identical wording to entry 15. |
| Child | Sohn: Heinrich Wilhelm Friedrich |
| Witnesses | 1\. Junggesell Fritz Möller aus Hajen. 2. Jungfer Hanne [Gördeke?] aus Halle. 3. Jungfer Dorette Vollbrecht aus [Jagesdorf?]. |
| Remarks | Carried on entry 15. |
Changed from the earlier pass. The mother is eheliche, not “unehel.” The grandmother gains a first name: Hanne Karoline Luise Brand. The struck-out and corrected birth date is recorded here for the first time. Witness 2 in entry 15 is Hanne Lönig, not “Frau[en] Lönig.” Witness 3 comes from Kirchbrak, a real village a few kilometres from Halle, not “Kirchbrunk(?).” The entry-16 child is Heinrich Wilhelm Friedrich, not “Heinrich Wilh[elm], Julius Heinrich.” The remarks sentence reads “Die unter No. 15 und 16 aufgeführten Kinder…”, not “Vor No. 15 und 16 nachstehende Kinder…”
Why this entry matters
Hanne Karoline Luise Brand is a Halle Brand, married to a Halle Häusling, with a daughter born in 1820 and grandchildren baptized in 1851. That is three generations from a single entry, and it is the only one of the four findings that puts a Brand in a Häusling household rather than a landholding or official one.
