Transcript and translation

Uncertain readings are marked [?] or set in brackets; words that could not be read are marked as such. Each transcript is shown as written, with its transcriber’s notes.

Transcription (German)

Die 23 Martii. Augustus Wilhelm. V. Ludegis [Ludewig] Küster [margin note to the right of the father's line, a trade or title, probably Müllermeister: unclear]. M. Anna Margaretha [Dorn?/Dörn?]. Gevattern: Augustus [Kalcke?], [Ch.? Amtm[ann]?]; [Wilhelm Ramberg?] à [Hohnstedt?/Hoyenstedt?]; Ursula [widow?] of Georg Winterfeld.

Translation (English)

On 23 March: August Wilhelm. Father: Ludewig Küster [margin note: a trade or title, probably master miller; unclear]. Mother: Anna Margaretha [Dorn?]. Godparents: August [Kalcke?], [Ch.? Amtmann?]; [Wilhelm Ramberg?] from [Hohnstedt?]; Ursula [widow?] of Georg Winterfeld.

Notes

The day and forenames agree exactly with the birth date (23 March 1696) given for August Wilhelm Küster, later Bürgermeister of Salzhemmendorf 1762–1766, in the Archion Forum thread 1436 (13 October 2020). Probable that this is the same man; stated for the entry.

Other Salzderhelden marriage and baptism pages checked for the parents: Bild 14 (Copulationen 1694–1695) holds no Küster; the 1690s baptisms of the other children are not read.

Grade: Stated (entry; draft reading of the mother, godparents and margin word); probable that the child is the Bürgermeister of Salzhemmendorf.

Notes

Bild 115 of 239, left page, first entry; faint and blotted. The margin word ends in -meister. The third sponsor line is cut by the viewer toolbar. Agrees with the reading of 12 October 2026. Grade: STATED for the date, the name and the father; POSSIBLE for the rest.

Read after panning past the toolbar. "uxor," not widow (POSSIBLE; image check I61). The mother's surname begins D and ends -n or -in.

Die 23 Martii. Augustus Wilhelm. V. Ludegis [Ludewig] Küster [margin, right: …meister]. M. Anna Margaretha [Do…, illegible]. Gevatt[ern]: [three sponsors; the surnames and places not legible at this size; the word before "Georg Winterfeld" illegible].

Notes

The margin word ends "-meister" (Mühlenmeister or Müllermeister; POSSIBLE). The mother's surname begins Do-; Dorn and Dodin both fit; illegible. No further check.

Die 23 Martii. Augustus Wilhelm. V. Ludewig Küster [Mühlmeister?]. M. Anna Margaretha Boden. Gev.: H. Augustus [Rettel?] [Amt..?]; H. Wilhelm Ram[..]; Fr. [..] Georg Wie[de..].

Translation (English)

23 March [1696]: Augustus Wilhelm; father Ludewig Küster [master miller?]; mother Anna Margaretha Boden; sponsors Mr. Augustus [Rettel?] [Amt..?], Mr. Wilhelm Ram[..], Mrs. [..] Georg Wie[de..].

Notes

The mother's surname reads Boden, clear on the crop; it agrees with the marriage of 19 October 1686 (Anna Maria Boden, F236) and the baptisms of 1687–1693 (Anna Boden). The earlier "[Dorn?]" and "Do-" readings are in the archive (rule 0.8). The godparents are not safe. Grade: STATED for the date, the child and both parents' surnames.
