Chapter 11 identifies the bride as Helen "Ellen" McCauley Houseman (1890-1918), daughter of Charles James McCauley and Mary Wallace. The Pennsylvania civil marriage index independently dates the marriage to 18 November 1910, the same date stamped on this application. Her absence from her father's household in the April 1910 census is an ordinary gap for an unmarried daughter working or living elsewhere; it does not weigh against the identification.
