Translation (English)

60\. The same day [18 September 1757]. Henrich Hermann Vagebiel, born at [Linse], a good, pious man of Linse, [buried]. He died of the common dysentery [as in other households]. Age 35 years less 14 days.

Notes

The name, the village, the cause and the age are clear; the bracketed words are doubtful. The dysentery of 1757 came with the French troops quartered in Halle from 22 July. "Vagebiel" is the Halle clerks' Sagebiel (long s read as V); Hermann = Harm. PROBABLE that he is Heinrich Harm Sagebiel, Halbmeyer at Linse, whose widow Marie Sophie Marahrens remarried in May 1759: George's 2x great-grandfather. Born about 2 October 1722. Grade: STATED (screen draft); the identification PROBABLE.
