English translation: Waßmann [Wesemann], Georg Ludewig, formerly master miller of the middle mill at Linse. Day and hour of death: the twenty-ninth of December, five in the morning. Day and manner of burial: the first of January 1856, quietly (a plain burial, without ceremony); the clerk writes the burial year out in full because the burial crossed into 1856. Causes and occasion of death: Brustschaden (chest damage). Age of the deceased: born 23 June 1777.

Transcriber’s note: the reading above is the item-level re-read of this volume made on 13 September 2026, which corrected the month in the age column from “Jan.” to “Jun.” The June birth agrees with the baptism of Georg Ludewig, son of the miller Joh. Heinrich Wäsemann and Christine Kampen, born 23 June 1777 (Halle Taufen & Beerdigungen 1766–1799, Bild 65). Two readings on file: died 29 December 1855, five in the morning; buried 1 January 1856; Brustschaden; “früher Mühlenmeister auf der Mittelmühle zu Linse”; born “23 Jun. 1777” (item-level re-read) and died 22 December 1855, 5:50 in the morning; buried [day not legible] December 1855; Brustkrankheit; “früher Mühlenmeister, starb auf der Mühle zu Linse”; born “23. Correction on re-check: the burial-date figure previously transcribed as "the eighth of January [18]56" does not hold up at higher resolution. The clearer reading is a December 1855 burial (the entry ends with "...fünf und fünfzig" = "55", i.e. 1855) rather than a date in January 1856; the exact day-of-month is still not confidently legible.

Note: this register gives the birth month as "Jan." (January), but Taufen & Beerdigungen 1766-1799, Bild 65, Entry 26 records the baptism of a Georg Ludewig, son of the miller Joh. Heinrich Wäsemann and Christine Kampen, born 23 June 1777 — same day-of-month and year, different month. Bild 65 has now been re-checked at higher resolution and its date reads unambiguously as "23. Jun."; since the baptism record is the primary source, "Jan." here is very likely a misreading of "Jun." and the birth date should be treated as 23 June 1777, not 23 January.
