No. 21. Father: Karl Ludewig Waßmann, cowherd (Kuhhirte). Mother: Hanne Karoline Möller, born 8 February 1809. Born 19 July [1849], 11 p.m.; baptized 21 July. Daughter: Karoline Wilhelmine Justine. Godparent: the father himself, Karl Ludewig Waßmann, cowherd at Halle.
Notes
"Kuhhirte": K, u with its bow, two long h's, i, r, t, e; probable. "Ludewig": the e is clear.
She is the mother in the Steffen baptisms of 1873 (390653, Bild 19) and 1875 (Bild 30): name order, day, month, year and place agree. Not George's sister.
Consequence for Chapter 2: a second living Ludwig Waßmann at Halle, of Häusling standing, whose wife was born in 1809 like George's mother.
