What this entry establishes
- This is George’s mother’s baptism, and the birth date it records, 16 July 1809, matches her death entry of 1852 to the day. The later hand that added † 1852 to this leaf made the connection itself.
- Her mother’s maiden name is Sporleder. The word left unread in the 1832 marriage entry, and provisionally transcribed there as Thonlader or Thonlacker, is wrong. Caroline Charlotte Sporleder, aged 26 in July 1809, was born about 1783.
- Her father is Christian Brand, Halbmeier at Linse — a half-farmer in the village itself, not at Halle. The Halle Brands, the Vollmeier of house number 3 and the innkeeping family, are a different rank and probably a different household.
- A Waßmann stands godfather at a Brand baptism in 1809, twenty-three years before the two families intermarried. The connection between the milling house and the half-farming house predates the marriage by a generation.
- Caroline Charlotte Sporleder, born about 1783, is the same woman as the Marie Caroline Charlotte née Sporleder who died in 1847 as the mother of the 1846 Brand groom. That makes the 1832 bride and the 1846 groom brother and sister, and the two Wesemann–Brand marriages one alliance rather than two coincidences.

Notes on entry 16
- Wesemann and Wasmann appear in the same godparent list, in one hand, four lines apart, one spelled with the middle vowel and one without. This is a second instance of the distinction the project relies on, alongside the 1799 entry at Linse.
- Ludewig Wesemanns Ehefrau is Justine Marie née Küster, placing the milling household at Linse in June 1809 and confirming the marriage was productive by then.
- Conrad Sporleder of Linse stands godfather here six weeks before Caroline Charlotte Sporleder appears as a mother in entry 17. The Sporleders are resident in the village, not incomers.
