Notes

Wallmann, as Paul reads it: the two tall letters after "Wa" are looped l's sitting on the line; neither descends, where this clerk's ß does (compare "schließt" in the closing line). "Steinbrecher": possible.

Not a Waßmann and not of the Linse household. The mother's Kemnade birth of 1850 is not among the Kemnade Waßmann baptisms of 1843–1868. Linse's next volume (from 1876) is not on Archion.
