Nick, Jr.’s life is told in the next section. His sister Anna Elizabeth went with him to Philadelphia about 1920 and married Robert John Schmidt, Sr., known as Bob, there in 1927. Their three children were baptized as Lutherans, probably at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, American and Brown Streets.

Living family members are not shown.

Anna and Bob are buried at Forest Hills Cemetery, Philadelphia, beside Nick and Ruth. Anna has roughly sixty living descendants, in families named Schmidt, Claus, Cliver, Doolittle, Cruser, Dahline, Spuhler, McClendon, Loux and Rilling.

Betty, born in the year her mother died, lived with her brother Nick and his wife, Ruth, in the early 1930s, until she married James Lee Pearman, Jr., known as Jim. Her descendants carry the names Pearman, Caffrey, Miller, Ringkamp, Acosta, Rivera, Horger, Cardamone, Chappelle, Beerley and Otto.

Catherine Margaret, the only child of Nicholas and Margaret, married Vincent Thomas McCarty (1914 to 2012). Vincent was the son of Thomas Roscoe McCarty (1883 to 1948) and Mary Frances Fleck McCarty (1884 to 1952). His obituary and Catherine’s, printed in the Bucks County Intelligencer in 2012 and 2010, describe the McCartys as the “8th generation” on a Nockamixon Township farm settled by Vincent’s Irish ancestors in 1737. They name seven children of the marriage, one of them an infant daughter, Janice Margaret, who died in 1943.

When their parents died, in 2010 and 2012, their six surviving children lived in South Carolina, Pennsylvania and Nebraska. The obituaries count about 13 grandchildren and 18 to 20 great-grandchildren without naming them.
