Accessibility statement
I want everyone to be able to read and use this family history. This statement covers family.paulwesemann.com. Last updated 6 November 2026.
The standard I aim for
The site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. I check the pages myself as they are built; the site has not been audited by an outside organization.
What the site does
- Every page works on phones, tablets and computers.
- Text can be made larger or smaller with the switch at the top of every page, and the site also works with your browser’s own zoom.
- A dark mode is available, and colors are chosen for readable contrast.
- Every feature can be used with a keyboard, and a “Skip to content” link starts every page.
- Pages use headings, landmarks and labels so that screen readers can find their way.
- The family photographs on the story pages each have a text description, and the same description is read out when a photograph is enlarged. There are no scans of records. The faded map behind the home page’s opening section is decorative, and charts and maps also give their information as text.
- Pages can be printed cleanly, without menus.
Known limitations
- Transcriptions follow the original records, including old spellings, abbreviations and uncertain readings marked with a question mark or brackets.
- The event map is visual; every place and event on it is also listed as text below the map and in the chronology.
- German and Italian translations are being added; some pages show English text under a note.
- Long tables, such as the full list of people and the chronology, can be slow to read with a screen reader. The search boxes and filters above them help narrow the list.
